As part of your Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS) application, you will be required to submit your ABS which is a detailed and comprehensive list of your activities since age of 16. Essentially, it is a 'snapshot' of your involvement up until your time of application.
Activities can be listed as any of the following categories:• Employment• Volunteer Activities• Extracurricular Activities• Awards and Accomplishments• Research• Other
For each activity you list, you must provide the names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of contacts who can verify your involvement for the medical schools you choose to apply to. These are known as 'Verifiers'. If you are applying to:• the University of Ottawa, you will be prompted to identify the top 3 activities in each category (maximum of 18 in total) that you feel have best prepared you to apply to medicine.• Queen’s University, you will be prompted to identify the top 3 activities in the Employment, Volunteer Activities and Extracurricular Activities categories (maximum of 9 in total). It is recommended that you draft a separate copy of all your activities since age 16. From there, you can arrange these activities into the appropriate categories listed above and describe the activities in point form.
